A Guardian Home is a permanent home for one of our breeding males or females.
These are trained adult dogs, or sometimes we decide to keep a special puppy back from
our litters to continue our lines and program. Becoming a Guardian Home gives you the
opportunity to have one of our top-quality AKC Golden Retrievers as a loving family pet (or
service dog, or ESA) while he or she remains in our breeding program.

We believe that puppies or dogs are best served integrated into a loving family. Dogs are social animals that adore their families and want to be with them. Dogs want to be involved in their family’s daily life and participate as beloved family members. By placing them in a home environment, we are doing our best to ensure their happiness and stability, while continuing to grow our program and improve the health, training, and breeding lines.
Our Guardian Families
Guardian homes get an AKC registered Golden Retriever OR a top-quality Golden Doodle. You invest time, love, and cooperation. Additionally, our homes have the opportunity to receive compensation while working with your four legged family member. As a thank you for your love and care, along with getting the guardian dog for free (Value of: 10k Goldendoodle, 15k Golden Retriever), we will pay you a Mahalo fee for each litter (dependent upon litter size), we ask that this money be put towards spay/neuter at the end of time in the breeding program.
We frequently have get togethers and playdates with our guardian home families- we are a Hawaii Goldens Ohana!
The Golden Retriever and Golden Doodle Breeds
This program allows us an opportunity to train, test, title, and retest to ensure that the very best dogs will continue in this breed, improving the quality and health of Golden lines here in Hawaii.
Requirements
-Guardian Home must live on O’ahu during the entire time the dog is in our breeding program, and have a fenced private yard.
-Feed premium quality food (ex: Acana, or NurtiSource) Purchased at The Pet Depot Hawai’i as this controls the quality of the food. Purchases through Amazon ot big box stores have lower quality or are fake.
-Give Monthly HEARTGUARD or Interceptor + (except when a female is pregnant).
-Guardian home is responsible for all non-related breeding expenses (regular vet checks, heartworm meds, teeth cleaning, grooming etc), food, toys and the normal items for your pet.
-GoldenDoodles must be groomed by “Grooming in Paradise” 808-230-5186 approx every 16 weeks (first grooming at approx 6 months of age). NO trims/cuts on Golden Retrievers, Grooming wash/blow out of shedding only.
-Guardian home must notify us right away when the female is in heat.
-Guardian home must make the dog available for the breeder to breed and complete health testing and any training/titling.
The Breeding/Whelping Process
The dog will be bred after proper health clearances have been completed.Once the dog is in heat, she will come to our stud for breeding (approx 45min-1hr for 2-3 “dates”, or we can bring our stud to your home.
One week before whelping (for females), we will bring the dog back to our home to make sure everything is going according to plan and whelp the puppies. The dog’s health and safety are our number one priorities. No expense will be spared for her. Once she whelps, we will have her stay with her puppies in our family room, until the weaning process as decided by the Mom dog is complete (approx 4-6 weeks). At that point she will rejoin her guardian family. While she is with us she will be treated the way you do, with so much love and tenderness, and usually sleeping in the bed with us or the children, and getting pup cups at Starbucks….
A male dog in the guardian program must be made available for stud services exclusive to the breeder Hawaii Goldens.
-all breeding related expenses are paid for by the breeder.
